One Liverpool ace is ‘going to be some player’ when he ‘gets properly up to the speed with English football’, that’s according to journalist Dominic King.

The Netherlands international was handed another start by Jurgen Klopp last night as the Reds defeated LASK 4-0 at Anfield in the Europa League to secure their passage through to the knockout stages with a game to spare.

The 21-year-old showed glimpses of his potential against the Austrian outfit and is certainly pushing for a regular starting spot under our German tactician.

The Daily Mail writer, writing on his X page, is excited by the former Ajax midfielder’s potential following his summer move from Bayern Munich.

Gravenberch was one of four midfielders signed in the summer as Klopp completed an overhaul in the middle of the park.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister have nailed down regular starting spots but the likes of Wataru Endo, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliot are all competing alongside our new No. 38 for the third and final spot in the engine room.

The Dutchman is a rather unique player in the sense that he’s a powerful dribbler of the ball and someone who can beat his mean seemingly with ease.

Following a number of impressive performances since moving from Bayern it’s somewhat surprising that Thomas Tuchel was willing to let the dynamic midfielder leave the club.

He looks like someone who has a bright future ahead of him and we look forward to seeing him continue to develop under Klopp and Co.

Jarell Quansah. What is the limit for Liverpool’s surprise gem?

World-class potential may not necessarily be attached to the 20-year-old Academy graduate, Dominic King was keen to stress, though the Daily Mail journalist made otherwise clear that the youngster has ‘rich potential’ to exploit in his tweet reaction to the Reds’ latest European win.

The Merseyisders most certainly made the affair far more challenging for themselves than was required, though Jurgen Klopp is sure to be pleased with his charges’ efforts after making nine changes to the side that suffered a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham in the most controversial of circumstances.

A genuine gem on our hands?

Questions will be rife over whether we’ve got a genuine gem on our hands or an Academy lad who’s playing out of his skin.

If he keeps delivering such impressive performances on the pitch, however, regardless of whether it comes in the cups or the Europa League, it’s going to become increasingly difficult to describe this as a mere flash in the pan.

Liverpool supporters were ready to rubbish any suggestion that Jordan Henderson could leave the club this summer but as the links became stronger, it had seemed that we were destined to lose our captain.

Taking to his Twitter account, Dominic King offered an alternative view though as he wrote: ‘Jordan Henderson latest: For all that Al-Ettifaq may be able to pay big wages, there’s doubt about whether they can pay a significant transfer fee (which Liverpool want).

‘Al-Ettifaq don’t have the back of PIF, so their budget isn’t unlimited. Situation isn’t cut and dried’.

The whispers of £700,000-per-week then may still be true but if we have named our price to be able to sell the midfielder, then we are just as important in this negotiation.

Our skipper has shown over the years that his commitment to the Reds has been unrivaled and so, if this move does fall apart because of the club’s desire for a larger transfer fee, we should still expect his full commitment.

In truth, the Sunderland-born midfielder is in a win-win position – either he gets the payday of his life, or is given the chance to remain captain of Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The footballing world has been rocked by the figures being offered to the England international and we should also be benefiting from a team that are so willing to publicly flex their financial might.

If we don’t get the money we think that is enough for us to part ways with a hugely influential player, then we should say no and continue with preparations for our opening game of the season which is now less than a month away.

Dominic King has sung Mason Mount’s praises amid reported interest from Liverpool ahead of the summer window.

The England international would cost in the region of £60m – a significant drop-off from what the Reds would be expected to fork out for Jude Bellingham in the same window.

“Mason Mount is the one. I’ve heard a lot about that and it’s coming from different places,” the reporter told The Anfield Wrap (Twitter).

“The messaging around it is that it seems attractive to both sides this move.

“He’s going to cost money, more than £60m I would think, but he’s a very, very good player. He’s technically great, works hard, he’s a really good lad as well.”

Interestingly, the point has been made that the Chelsea man would be an ideal fit for Jurgen Klopp’s system, were the Merseysiders to make their move.

“I just think he’d be exactly the kind of player Klopp would love working with because of that attitude, that willingness to run, how he knows the game,” King added.

From our point of view, having a player on board capable of playing a wide variety of positions – from wide of a front-three all the way down to an 8 in the middle of the park – can only be a positive.

More than anything else though, it’s the guarantee of fresh legs that will be most encouraging given how lacklustre and beleaguered our midfield three has looked for much of the campaign.

Ultimately, if we’re to get the best out of Klopp’s brand of football again going into the next campaign – £60m for a 24-year-old Premier League-proven talent with experience in Europe sounds like far from a bad deal.

The inclusion of Joe Gomez and James Milner on the right-hand side of the Liverpool backline may have set tongues wagging on the blue half of manchester.

Both options in the back four played a strong part in preserving an impressive clean sheet against the incumbent champions.

This led Dominic King to tweet that the No.2 should, on the basis of ‘that performance’, start for Gareth Southgate’s men in their opening clash of the World Cup campaign.

It was a more than compelling performance given that Gomez had been thrust into the limelight to cover for an injured Ibrahima Konate and should hand Jurgen Klopp another selection headache once the Frenchman and Joel Matip are back in action.

Dominic King has called into question Gareth Southgate’s decision-making after leaving out Trent Alexander-Arnold from his matchday squad to face Germany.

The reporter branded the PR disaster that followed ‘a calamity’, as the England boss was subjected to heavy criticism, putting faith in Chelsea’s Reece James as the right wing-back.

“If Southgate had no intention of playing Alexander-Arnold against Italy or Germany, why pick him? Had his name not been in the squad selected on September 15, his displays for Liverpool could have been put forward,” the journalist wrote for the Daily Mail.

“Plenty would have disagreed, given the 23-year-old’s ability, but at least it could have been taken on board before the games began.

“This, on the other hand, is a call that borders on the nonsensical.

“From a PR point of view for the FA, it is a calamity. Why was it made public 11 hours before kick-off, allowing it to dominate social media, TV channels, radio stations and any interview with Southgate?”

With much of the critique around Liverpool’s No.66 revolving around his defensive shortcomings, yet another poor performance from the Three Lions’ backline (due in no small part to Harry Maguire’s efforts in particular) hardly vindicated the absence of the 23-year-old right-back.

Though our rivals may be quick to use this as another stick to beat the Academy graduate with, the indisputable fact remains that the fullback is, on his day, one of the leading options in his position in world football.

We’d argue to that much in the way of concern over his contributions defensively would be addressed by the return of a more balanced midfield trio, an aim Jordan Henderson should be more than capable of helping Jurgen Klopp’s men achieve.

The surprise loan move looks set to go ahead later this afternoon with a medical booked in on Merseyside as Jurgen Klopp’s men and Juventus hash out the final details of the switch.

News that Liverpool knew Aurelien Tchouameni was destined for Spanish capital will undoubtedly enrage certain sections of the club’s online fanbase.

The update around the Frenchman was shared on Twitter by Dominic King in response to Jurgen Klopp’s apparent reference to the now Real Madrid midfield in the embargoed section of his pre-match presser.

The Merseysiders missed out on the highly-rated holding midfielder, who had expressed the Bernabeu was his preferred destination of the two, and have since failed to acquire a quality alternative 22-year-old.

Liverpool missing out on top additions is hardly something to worry about – particularly given that the recruitment team have always had a long list of other possible avenues to explore instead.

Strangely for many, however, another prospect has yet to rear its head after a move for Tchouameni and an enquiry for Jude Bellingham didn’t yield positive results.

There’s the argument to be made that we’re best waiting it out for our top targets and, indeed, we’re expected to be in with a real chance of convincing the England international to move to Anfield next summer.

However, that logic will do little to appease the easily frustrated, reactionary contingent of supporters online who feel that our short-term concerns aren’t being appropriately addressed.

There’s more good news for Liverpool fans as Dominic King confirmed that Diogo Jota is set to return to training ‘within’ two weeks after having suffered an injury that has ruled him out for much of the pre-season period.

This comes courtesy of a tweet from the Daily Mail correspondent, who also reported news of a contract extension being discussed with the Portuguese international’s representatives.

The former Wolves man has been a sensation in Merseyside since signing for the club back in 2020, amassing a total of 43 goal contributions in 85 appearances (across all competitions).

In the meantime, Jota’s absence represents an ideal opportunity for Darwin Nunez to further acclimatise to the squad by earning minutes with the first-XI.

The Uruguayan international started life on the bench in the Community Shield, though could be trusted to lead the line from the off this Saturday after a tremendous showing in the second-half of action at the King Power Stadium.

With us hoping to mount another attempt at a clean sweep of silverware this term, having multiple quality options in the centre-forward role can only bode well for the club’s ambitions.

Liverpool are reportedly ‘pressing on with contract talks’ for star striker Diogo Jota as a reward for the player’s high performance levels since his switch from Wolves.

This update comes courtesy of Dominic King on Twitter, with the Portuguese international set to be handed a new long-term deal beyond the 2025 expiry date of his current terms.

The 25-year-old enjoyed another solid campaign with the Merseysiders last term, amassing 29 goal contributions in 55 games as the club came close to completing a historic quadruple trophy haul.

Being a critical part of our forward line, it’s far from surprising that Jurgen Klopp and the club are especially keen to ensure the former Wolves man’s long-term future is tied to Anfield.

With Luis Diaz aged 25 and Darwin Nunez aged 23, the recruitment team have done an exceptional job in gradually implementing new additions to keep a front-three fresh.

Many had assumed it would be impossible for us to move on from a starting set of Sadio Mane, Bobby Firmino and Mo Salah.

A long-term replacement for the latter will need to be discovered at some point, though there’s every indication that our Egyptian King will remain a force of nature well into his 30s.

There will and has been raised eyebrows over Mo Salah’s new contract and wages but one journalist believes that Liverpool have got a good deal with the 30-year-old.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast, Dominic King from The Daily Mail said: “Doing the figures, over three years that deal is about £63m.

“If Liverpool wanted to sign one of the best strikers in the world, it would be £100m-plus and then wages on top.

“When you’ve already got one of the best in the world, it makes economic sense to do the deal to keep him.

“He wants to be the top goalscorer of all time for Liverpool, that tells you what his mind is like and his approach to work.

“There will be no way he thinks he’s made it now he’s signed this contract.”

There’s no question that having the Egyptian King in your team makes you better and he will continue to provide some big moments for Jurgen Klopp and our supporters.

Money was always going to be a major factor in this deal though and by allowing the likes of Sadio Mane, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino to leave the club, we freed up money that could be used on our No.11.

Signing a replacement would have been a big risk, especially when combined with the recent arrivals of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, so this option was possibly the safest and maybe even the most cost effective.

It’s up to the former Roma forward to now recapture some of the form we have become very used to seeing and to hopefully help take us to more silverware next season.

Liverpool have officially ‘made a breakthrough’ in a move for Calvin Ramsay with a medical on the way.

This update comes courtesy of a tweet from Dominic King, with the report noting that a fee of £4m up front has been agreed with Aberdeen for the fullback’s services.

It’s understood that the highly-rated teenager will come in as an understudy to first-choice right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

With us possessing superb cover down the left-flank for Andy Robertson in the form of Greek international, Kostas Tsimikas, the hope will be that the Scot could eventually provide a similar level of reliability on the opposite side of the pitch.

There’s a great deal of expectation surrounding Ramsay after winning the Scottish Football Writers’ young player of the year award at 18 years of age.

We are said to be interested in bringing in a new midfielder, though, without any further pertinent updates on relevant targets, it seems we’re willing to wait a year to bring in potential addition in that department.
