Liverpool have done what many assumed was unthinkable in the current window and spent big on replacing specialist number six Fabinho.
Melissa Reddy shared the huge announcement on X on Friday morning, confirming the Reds agreement of £110m (a British transfer record) for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo.

The deal was reached in response to Chelsea’s latest attempt to breach the divide with a £100m bid, though it now appears to be the case that the Merseysiders are firmly in control of this particular transfer.

There are questions that remain, of course, perhaps chief amongst them being the status of our pursuit of Southampton’s Romeo Lavia.
Few will pay that any mind in the coming days, understandably, after watching Jurgen Klopp’s men act so decisively in the market to solve what was their top problem ahead of the new campaign.

All of their ‘careful financial planning’ is just nonsense.

What they ‘couldn’t afford’ was Bellingham’s £1m a week wages. And nor should they.
Bellinghams wages are listed at £200,000 pw on the RM website.
Exactly, it makes no sense. They sold Fab and Hendo to the Saudis for only €60m combined, and have bought Szlobo and Mac Allister for combined €112m! And now they want to pay €115 for Caicedo too??? What’s going on?
Couldn’t afford Bellingham BEFORE Hendo and Fab were sold. Adding 50MM to the pot helps. That and it seems like Jude wanted Madrid anyway, and wages were an issue. Financial circumstances changed for the positive for LIverpool, and they’re responding accordingly.
Front line seems sorted, middle of the field should be (yes, we lost a lot of players, but let’s face it we don’t have to replace the number of games Keita and Ox played each season due to their injury records), back line needs some help but can probably hold on until the winter window (at least I hope).
