Mo Salah’s feelings over the disallowed goal for Luis Diaz in Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat at Tottenham on Saturday evening were reflected in his post-match social media activity.
The Egyptian had played the 26-year-old through to finish during the first half, only for the Colombian’s strike to be disallowed for an offside call which subsequent replays showed to be erroneous.
beIN SPORTS posted a clip on X showing Richard Keys and Andy Gray exposing the officials’ failure to spot that the Reds’ number 7 was onside and that the goal should’ve stood, a post that the 31-year-old later ‘liked’ (via @MoSalah).

It doesn’t take an elite detective to deduce what Salah felt about Diaz’s goal being chalked off, and he has every reason to be furious.
At the time it looked like an atrocious call, one which wasn’t picked up on a VAR review of the incident, and the PGMOL later owned up to ‘a significant human error’, with the usual coloured lines for offside decisions not appearing (BBC Sport).

Fans, players and managers will accept that officials won’t get everything perfect, but when there’s such a systemic failure on their part – like with the Diaz goal – that makes it very hard to stomach.
Refereeing bodies can issue all the apologies they like afterwards, but their representatives simply must do better. They are ruining the enjoyment of the Premier League week after week.
Quite simply this referee is not good enough to officiate both on the pitch or VAR.
It is about time that PGMOL had some balls and sacked these officials who are patently not good enough to do the job required. They trot out the same excuses and claptrap week in and week out – the fans deserve better
YNWA
PGMOL can offer as many apologies as they like but that does not change anything. Incompetent officials should be sanctioned just as harshly as the players. As officials they should be held to a higher standard and apologies after the fact are futile and meaningless. The fact that prick Hooper has had a 2nd disastrous outing, should mean that he pays a fine and loses out on refereeing games. Hooper is an absolute oxygen thief.
I am in South Africa and I could see that Diaz’s goal was onside!!!! These officials have clearly got their eyes up their backsides OR there is a conspiracy against LFC. Either way, English officials are a pathetic bunch of sphincter muscles who steal oxygen for a living.
That referee is just a plonker.
Think we should follow tennis. Each team allowed to raised protest XX times for each half, on top of VAR intervene
It’s a complete disaster of var n the ref. They should be banned n never officiate any games. Also the decisions made was patheitic. Clearly they support Spurs. Refs should never ref a game if they support a team they are refreing. Sad day for LFC. We have been robbed by technology.
We have seen before VAR stop the game due to something they want the ref to review.
This could off happened twice in this game after stupid incorrect decisions on pitch.
The VAR is only covering up the inept actions of the on pitch referee
Even the FA should have the power to cancel the result and order a rematch
just one conclusion : the ultimate goal of some officials is to make sure that Liverpool don’t lay their hand on the premier league title
This is robbery, we have been robbed, what if we get to the end of the season and need a point which we perhaps could have got at a minimum if the goal was allowed. This is absolutely pathetic.
